International VAAM Workshop "Biology of Microorganisms Producing Natural Products"
The annual international workshop "Biology of Microorganisms Producing Natural Products" provides a platform especially for young researchers to present their latest results. The conference covers different aspects of natural product biosynthesis and engineering, such as "biochemistry and genetics of secondary metabolite production" or "regulation of the secondary metabolism". Other important areas are e.g. "synthesis of exoenzymes", "ecological role of secondary metabolites", "genome-guided drug discovery" and "genetic instability and genome structure". In the last years the workshop was attended by 100-150 international participants from academia and industry.
The conference in Jena is organized by Gerald Lackner and Hajo Kries on behalf of the interest group "Biology of Bacterial Natural Product Producers", which is a section of the German Association for General and Applied Microbiology (VAAM).
