Biology of Bacteria Producing Natural Products

General Information

The annual international workshop "Biology of Bacterial Natural Product Producers" provides a platform especially for young researchers to present their latest results. The conference covers different aspects of natural product biosynthesis and engineering such as "biochemistry and genetics of secondary metabolite production" or "regulation of the secondary metabolism". Other important areas are e.g. "genetic instability and genome structure", "synthesis of exoenzymes", "ecological role of secondary metabolite", "plasmids and transposons in actinomycetes" and "genome-guided drug discovery". In the last years the workshop was attended by 100-150 international participants from academia and industry.

The conference in Jena is organized by Gerald Lackner and Hajo Kries on behalf of the interest group "Biology of Bacterial Natural Product Producers", which is a section of the German Association for General and Applied Microbiology (VAAM).
